The Wild Duck Journal 3

"Within, morning sunlight shines through the skylights. A few doves fly back and forth" (159). The light connects to the imagery of photography. This quote talks about the beginning of the new day. This quote also talks about birds and is trying to connect it to the duck.
"And actually she's been in the depth of the sea" (162). This quote is an image of the wild duck. There are two people the duck could be referring to. Either Hjalmer or Hedvig. Hedvig because she doesn't see the whole picture because he is happy how life is.
"Even the chickens have all the others that they were baby chicks with, but she's so completely apart from any of her own" (164). In this quote Ibsen is talking about Hedvig. Ibsen talks about how she is so different from the rest of her family.  She is s innocent and looks up to her father, Hjalmer. But, Gina and Hjalmer ate nothing like Hedvig by Gina keeps secrets from Hjalmer and Hjalmer has lots of emotional issues.
"I wouldn't say you're wounded; but you're wandering in a poisonous swamp, Hjalmer. You've got an insidious disease in your system, and so you've gone to the bottom to die in the dark" (170). In this quote "disease" is a motif through the book. If Hjalmer is a "disease" or if the wild duck actually has a "disease". When Gregers is telling this quote to Hjalmer he is implying that he needs to watch what he is doing and saying because he is making people angry.
"Late afternoon light; it is near sunset" (179). Light pops up multiple times through the book. The light connects to the imagery of photography. This quote is also talking about it is the end of the day.
