The bride seems to be miserable, “They are dark clouds-an ill wind inside me” (41). She seems she doesn’t want to marry the bridegroom but yet she is very anxious to marry him at the same time. “How far is it from here to the church?” (42). She is miserable because she is in love with Leonardo, always looking at him when he is in the room and she will notice when he leaves. Then she does go through with the marriage because she knows how important it is for her father.
Leonardo is the other character that seems to be miserable. What I thought was weird it that Leonardo rode his horse to the wedding by himself and his wife came later. When his wife said, “there’s a dagger in each eye” Leonardo is connecting more and more to death (57). Also Leonardo kept saying “Let’s go!” and as the celebration kept going on he seemed to be getting more and more impatient (57).
